History
In January of 2019, Property of me was originally created by section one of the third year Dawson Social Service students. As a final project, we had the freedom to choose our subject. We chose this issue as it is more prevalent than most people think in our city. There is a false sense of security around human trafficking; this affects people in foreign countries and not in Canada. However, In 2013, the Canadian Women’s Foundation conducted a national survey of community service providers which reported serving a total of 2,872 trafficked girls and women in one year.

The International Labour Office (ILO) estimates that approximately 20.9 million people worldwide are forced and or deceived into different forms of labour.
22% are victims of forced sexual exploitation
68% are victims of forced labour exploitation
According to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) most people who are trafficked domestically for sexual exploitation are Canadian women between the ages 14 and 22.
Prevalence
A 2013 RCMP study found that 98% of sex trafficking victims are women and girl. some as young as 14 who are forced to perform sex acts 356 days for the year.
The RCMP found traffickers in Canada get about 280.000 for each woman or girl. Information about possible sex crimes is encouraged to contact the RCMP @ 1800-771-5401 OR MTL police through info crime @ 514 393 -1133.
By law, the purchase of sexual services is a crime and the RCMP, Montreal police and Canada Border Services Agency are working to bring awareness to Human trafficking in Quebec.
The targeted are usually female, poor, have a history of violence and child abuse, neglect, low level of education among many factors.
